Our Chosen Charity
CHARITY
Our chosen charity for this academic year is Crisis Skylight Croydon.
Crisis Skylight Croydon are a charity for people who are experiencing homelessness. They help people directly out of homelessness and campaign for the changes needed to solve it altogether.
To achieve these aims Crisis Skylight Croydon:
- Work side by side with thousands of people each year as they find ways out of homelessness
- Provide practical support to help people access benefits, healthcare services, employment opportunities, and more
- Help people find safe and affordable homes as quickly as possible
- Work to address the root causes that push people into homelessness in the first place
- Campaign on the political changes needed to end homelessness for good
- Conduct research to understand and highlight the scale, causes and consequences of homelessness
At Harris Primary Academy Kenley, we also support other charities, both local and national. So far this academic year, we have supported Purley Food Hub, Children in Need and Comic Relief.
Purley Food Hub: Throughout the year, our academy community gives donations to be taken to Purley Food Hub. A group of Year 4 children will then take these donations to the food hub each half term, as part of their community project. On arrival, the chilldren are assigned roles and eagerly get stuck in to support Purley Food Hub's volunteers. The children sort the donations into groups, check and order food by expiry dates, label products, stock up the stock shop for supporting services and even make up treat bags. A BIG thank you to Purley Food Hub for teaching our children about the incredible work you do.
